Yeshivat Torah V’Avodah (TVA) is a Bnei Akiva gap-year yeshiva in Jerusalem for highly motivated high-school graduates, mainly from North America and other English-speaking communities. The yeshiva combines serious Torah learning with a strong focus on Torah v’Avodah, giving students the opportunity to learn at Eretz Chemdah alongside experienced Religious Zionist educators while also taking part in volunteering, internships, tiyulim and activities connected to Israeli society. The atmosphere is geared towards students who want a serious year of Torah but also want to engage with the wider Jewish people and the State of Israel. The learning includes different approaches to Gemara, Tanach, Halacha, character development and spoken Hebrew, with students coming from a range of Modern Orthodox and Religious Zionist backgrounds. TVA also has an approved Hesder track for students who continue into army service. The yeshiva is led by Rabbi Dr. Yehuda Seif, with Rav Yair Halevi and Rabbi Aaron Bayer among the senior staff. TVA is particularly suited to a student looking for a structured Torah year that combines Beit Midrash learning with responsibility, community involvement and preparation for life in Israel and beyond.
