Reishit

“Yeshivat Reishit is a Modern Orthodox post-high-school yeshiva in Beit Shemesh, mainly serving English-speaking students from North America and the UK for a year of Torah study in Israel. The yeshiva combines serious Gemara and halachic learning with Jewish thought, personal development, Israel advocacy and a strong focus on building a lasting connection to Torah and Eretz Yisrael. The atmosphere is warm and personal, with a large staff of Rebbeim and an emphasis on getting to know each student and developing his individual strengths. It is suited to boys looking for a serious but balanced year in Israel rather than a highly traditional Israeli-style yeshiva. The programme is structured around a full day of shiurim and sedarim, with additional seminars, chesed and extracurricular programming. Reishit has a strong American and British student base and has operated for many years as a gap-year programme before students return to university, continue learning, or pursue other paths. Rav Ari Marcus is the Rosh Yeshiva, with Rav Elie Marcus as Mashgiach Ruchani and Rav Doni Marcus as Dean of Student Life. The yeshiva also has dedicated British and Sephardi programmes.”
