Orayta

“Yeshivat Orayta is a Religious Zionist, English-speaking yeshiva in the Old City of Jerusalem, primarily serving motivated post-high-school students for a gap year in Israel. The yeshiva combines serious Gemara and textual learning with Jewish philosophy, Tanach and halacha, with an emphasis on developing independent learning skills and understanding the meaning behind Torah and Jewish life. The atmosphere is intellectually open and personal, with students encouraged to ask questions and develop their own relationship with Torah, Hashem and Eretz Yisrael. The yeshiva has a strong connection to Israel, with tiyulim and programming around the country, and is located just steps from the Kotel. The yeshiva has a broad North American and international student body and is a good fit for a student looking for a serious but open-minded Religious Zionist environment. Students have come from the US, Canada, UK, Australia, South Africa and Europe. The main staff include Roshei Yeshiva Rabbi Binny Freedman, Rabbi David Aaron and Rabbi Yitzchak Blau, alongside a wider team of Rebbeim and educators. Orayta also maintains a strong alumni connection, with many graduates continuing to college and Jewish leadership, and the yeshiva is part of Yeshiva University's S. Daniel Abraham Israel Program.”
