Ohr Samayach Center Program

Jerusalem, Jerusalem

Ohr Somayach’s Center Program in Jerusalem is a full-time Torah program mainly for young men who have completed university or are coming from an academic or professional background and want to spend a year or more learning seriously in yeshiva. The students come from a wide range of Jewish backgrounds, including those who did not grow up with a strong Torah education, but who have some Jewish studies background and are motivated to build their knowledge and commitment. The program is built around small classes, chavruta learning and personal guidance, with a strong emphasis on becoming self-sufficient in studying Gemara, Tanach, Halacha and Jewish thought. The atmosphere is serious about learning but also reflects Ohr Somayach’s background in working with baalei teshuva and students coming from the university and professional world. The program is not a conventional gap-year yeshiva for Israeli high-school graduates. Students have gone on from the Center to continue learning, pursue careers and become involved in Jewish communities and education.
