Yeshivat Lev Aharon is a post-high-school Sephardic yeshiva in Har Nof, Jerusalem, dedicated to helping each talmid grow in Torah, Yirat Shamayim, maturity and personal responsibility.

Our approach combines serious Torah learning and a structured daily schedule with warmth, strong relationships and genuine individual attention. We recognize that every boy comes with different strengths, learning levels and backgrounds, and we work to meet each talmid where he is while encouraging him to keep growing.

Small shiurim, chavrusa learning, personal Rebbeim and an approachable staff allow students to build real relationships with their Rabbanim and develop stronger learning skills. Trips, Shabbatons, sports and programming create a strong sense of chevra and make the yeshiva experience positive and enjoyable.

Our goal is for a talmid to leave Lev Aharon not only having had a meaningful year in Eretz Yisrael, but with a stronger connection to Torah and Hashem, greater self-awareness and maturity, improved learning skills, and relationships with Rabbanim that continue long after he leaves yeshiva.

Yeshivat Lev Aharon is led by its founder and Rosh HaYeshiva, Rabbi David Laniado, together with an experienced team of senior Rabbanim and professional staff. Shabbos at Lev Aharon is warm, relaxed and very relationship-focused. In-Shabbosim and Shabbatons give talmidim an opportunity to spend meaningful time with their Rabbanim outside the regular weekday schedule, with meals, Divrei Torah, learning, Oneg Shabbat and a strong sense of chevra. Rabbanim and their families often participate in designated Shabbos programs, helping create a genuine family atmosphere.

Daily life & schedule

A regular day begins with Shacharit at 8:00 AM, followed by breakfast and Mussar. First Seder begins at 10:00 AM, with Mincha and lunch in the early afternoon. Second Seder begins at 4:00 PM, followed by dinner, Arvit and Night Seder from 8:30–10:00 PM. The schedule is structured, while still leaving room throughout the week for sports, trips, special programming, guest speakers and other yeshiva activities.

The admissions team reviews each applicant to determine whether Lev Aharon is an appropriate fit. The process focuses not only on a student's current learning level, but also on his maturity, willingness to participate in the yeshiva program and genuine desire to grow.

Speciality: Lev Aharon's specialty is creating real growth through personal relationships. Rather than expecting every talmid to fit one mold, the yeshiva works to understand each boy's strengths, challenges and starting point, and then helps him move forward from there. Serious Torah learning, close relationships with Rabbanim, strong chevra, sports, trips and programming all work together to create an environment in which boys want to be in yeshiva and want to grow.
Often misunderstood: Because Lev Aharon is known for its warmth, trips, sports and positive atmosphere, some people mistakenly assume that it is less serious or primarily designed for weaker or struggling students. Neither is accurate. Lev is a structured, full-time yeshiva with real expectations for attendance, learning and behavior. At the same time, it recognizes that serious growth does not look identical for every talmid and provides different levels of learning and significant individual attention.
Question parents should ask: “Who in the yeshiva will really know my son?” A program can have excellent shiurim, facilities and activities, but a tremendous amount of a boy's growth comes down to whether he develops relationships with Rabbanim who understand him, notice when he is doing well or struggling, and remain involved in his life.
Before choosing: The most important factor is not simply a boy's current level of learning. Lev can work successfully with students across a range of levels. What matters much more is whether the student is willing to participate, accept guidance and accountability, build relationships with his Rabbanim and make a genuine effort to grow. A boy looking mainly for freedom and an unstructured year in Israel will probably not be the right fit.

Students who are a strong fit may apply to continue into a dedicated Shana Bet program, where they are expected to take greater ownership of their learning, maturity and responsibilities while continuing to benefit from the yeshiva framework and relationships they built during their first year. Beyond Shana Bet, alumni remain part of the Lev Aharon family, and many continue to stay connected with their Rabbanim for guidance long after leaving yeshiva.
Is there anything else that prospective students, educators, or placement professionals should know?: We encourage educators and placement professionals not to judge a student's fit for Lev Aharon solely by his current Gemara level or by whether he fits a particular “type.” Lev has been successful with boys across a broad range of learning abilities and personalities. The better questions are whether the student wants to grow, responds positively to relationships with Rabbanim, can function within a structured environment and will contribute positively to the chevra. When those pieces are present, Lev can often bring out strengths in a talmid that were not previously visible.
