Chavat Lechatchilah (Yeshivat Ohel Yaakov)
“Lechatchila Farm, near Mitzpe Yericho, is a Charedi agricultural yeshiva called Ohel Yaakov. It is for boys who want to maintain a high level of Torah learning and yirat shamayim but do not manage well within a regular yeshiva schedule. The yeshiva combines Torah learning in the morning with practical work in agriculture and caring for animals during the afternoon. The boys work with sheep, goats and horses and can take part in areas such as woodworking, construction, welding, baking, cooking, riding and working with plants. The atmosphere is active and practical, with a full daily schedule built around Torah, responsibility, discipline and hands-on work. The staff work with each boy individually and with his parents, and the setting is particularly suited to boys who need a more practical and active framework than a conventional yeshiva.”
