“Yeshivat Migdal HaTorah is an English-speaking Modern Orthodox gap-year yeshiva in Modi’in, serving mainly post-high-school students from North America and other English-speaking countries. It is geared towards mature, motivated boys who want serious Gemara learning but are also looking for an intellectually open environment. The learning is strongly analytical, with an emphasis on understanding the ideas and concepts behind the Gemara rather than simply covering material. The yeshiva also has a fairly broad curriculum including Halacha, philosophy, contemporary issues and Torah and science. The atmosphere is very much connected to the local Dati Leumi community in Modi’in, with students living in apartments and being involved with local families and shuls. It is a good fit for a Modern Orthodox boy who wants a serious year of Torah but is comfortable asking questions, thinking independently and engaging with the wider world. The yeshiva has a strong connection to Israel, and graduates include students who have gone on to college, made aliyah and served in the IDF.”
