Mayanot

Jerusalem, Jerusalem

Mayanot is a Chabad-oriented yeshiva in Jerusalem for young men from different Jewish backgrounds and countries. The main yeshiva serves men 20–29, with a dedicated Post High School Program for 18–19-year-olds coming for a gap year after high school. The atmosphere is open, supportive and intellectually oriented, with students learning together from different backgrounds. The program combines serious Torah learning with Talmud, Halacha, Chassidut, Chumash, Hebrew and Jewish thought, alongside trips, Shabbatons, farbrengens, kumsitzes and life in Jerusalem. A strong emphasis is placed on giving students the tools to learn independently and develop their own connection to Torah and Judaism. The 18–19 program is specifically designed as a gap year in Israel, with its own facilities and dedicated staff. Mayanot is particularly suited to boys who want a Chassidic/Chabad environment but may not be coming from a traditional Chabad yeshiva background, and to students looking for a more open and exploratory style of learning. The yeshiva describes its goal as developing confident and committed Jews with a deep sense of Jewish identity, and many graduates go on to college, further Jewish learning and involvement in their communities.
