Kerem B'Yavneh (KBY)
“Kerem B’Yavneh is a serious, traditional Religious-Zionist yeshiva for boys who want a strong Beit Midrash experience and are ready to put a significant part of their day into learning. The learning is Gemara-focused, with a strong emphasis on iyun, understanding the sugya and developing the ability to learn independently. The atmosphere is very much a yeshiva atmosphere: the Beit Midrash is the centre of the day, with learning continuing into the evening, but there is also a strong sense of community around the campus, Shabbat meals, tishes and homes of the Rebbeim. The overseas students come mainly from established yeshiva high schools and learn alongside Israeli Hesder students, giving the program a distinctly Israeli feel rather than being an overseas-only yeshiva. KBY is a good fit for a boy who is already comfortable in a serious Torah environment and wants to grow in his learning, independence and connection to Eretz Yisrael. It is particularly suited to boys looking for a traditional Religious-Zionist approach rather than a more open-ended or alternative program. The overseas year is generally a gap year, and students typically return to university or further yeshiva learning, while some eventually make aliyah.”
