Mechinat Keshet Yehuda

Golan Heights, Moshav Keshet

Keshet Yehuda is a religious-Zionist pre-army mechina in Moshav Keshet in the Golan Heights, established in 1991. Boys generally spend one to one and a half years there after high school before joining the IDF, while some continue to yeshivot hesder or higher yeshivot. The focus is on Torah, emunah, building middot, knowing the Land of Israel and preparing physically and spiritually for army service. The learning includes Gemara, Tanach, emunah and Torah from the writings of Rav Kook, alongside hikes, navigation, physical training and preparation for military service. The atmosphere is family-oriented and built around achdut between the boys and staff. It suits boys who want a religious-Zionist environment but also want to take responsibility for their own growth and build themselves toward army service. Keshet has a significant Israeli student body, alongside a smaller group of overseas students, including boys from the US, UK and Canada who are preparing for aliyah and service as lone soldiers. Graduates go on to serve throughout the IDF, with many entering combat and command roles.
