“Yesod HaTorah is a one-year Israel yeshiva for Sephardic young men, with boys coming from different backgrounds and communities. The yeshiva is based in Ramat Shlomo, Jerusalem, and has a warm, personal atmosphere with a lot of individual attention from the Rabbeim. The program is built around Gemara Iyun and Bekiut, together with Halacha, with a particular emphasis on Sephardic Halacha and minhagim. There are also Hashkafa, Mussar and practical life classes, with night seder including one-on-one learning with avreichim. The yeshiva puts a strong emphasis on helping boys become more independent in their learning and personal growth, while giving them a full year of living and experiencing Israel. It is primarily suited to a Sephardic boy looking for a serious but supportive year in Israel, rather than a highly intense or large mainstream yeshiva framework. The students come from varying backgrounds, and the atmosphere is geared towards personal growth, Torah learning and connecting to Sephardic heritage. The year also includes regular tiyulim and experiences around Israel. The yeshiva does not appear to be an army or Hesder program, and its stated model is a one-year Israel experience before students return home or continue with their next stage of learning.”
