Darkaynu
“### Yeshivat Darkaynu Yeshivat Darkaynu is a gap-year program for religious young men with special needs, including students with a range of diagnosed disabilities, neurodiversity and learning differences. The program is based on the campus of Yeshivat Har Etzion in Alon Shevut and uses a “side-streaming” model: the Darkaynu students have their own structured program and individualized classes, while joining the wider yeshiva community for dorm life, meals, chavruta learning, trips, Shabbatot, chessed and other activities. The aim is to give boys who would otherwise have difficulty fitting into a regular Israel yeshiva year the opportunity to have a real year in Israel alongside their peers. The program has a strong focus on independence and life skills alongside Torah learning. A typical day combines tefillah and Torah learning with supervised work or volunteer placements, life-skills classes, chavruta learning and recreational activities. Students come from a range of backgrounds and abilities, mainly English-speaking communities from abroad. It is a structured program with significant staff support, but the atmosphere is built around giving the students real responsibility and a sense of being part of the wider yeshiva and community. The program is also focused on helping students develop vocational skills and prepare for greater independence after their year in Israel.”
