Bais Medrash Letorah (Portnoy's Yeshiva)
“Bais Medrash LeTorah is an American-style yeshiva in Jerusalem, founded in 2012 by R’ Shaye Portnoy. The yeshiva is focused on building serious Bnei Torah, with a strong emphasis on personal growth and close relationships between the talmidim and Rebbeim. The yeshiva describes its approach as giving every bochur the tools for his personal aliyah, with a low talmid-to-Rebbi ratio and a hands-on approach so that no bochur falls through the cracks. It is located on Sorotzkin Street in the Mattersdorf/Unsdorf area, surrounded by a strong Torah community. The yeshiva is particularly suited to American bachurim looking for a structured, Torah-focused year in Israel with a good amount of individual attention. The yeshiva is led by Rosh Yeshiva R’ Shaye Portnoy. The overall atmosphere is that of a traditional American yeshiva, with the emphasis on limud haTorah, becoming a Ben Torah and personal growth.”
