Aish HaTorah Foundations

Jerusalem, Jerusalem

**Aish HaTorah Foundations** is a 2–3 month program for Jewish men looking to gain clarity in their Judaism and explore the fundamentals of Torah and Jewish life. It is designed as a flexible, “no-pressure” learning environment rather than a traditional full-time yeshiva framework. Students come from a range of backgrounds and can build a schedule around their level and interests, with classes ranging from Jewish philosophy and personal growth to Hebrew and learning original Torah texts. The program also includes trips around Israel, Shabbat experiences in the Old City and plenty of informal interaction with the staff and other students. Aish puts a strong emphasis on helping students understand the “big questions” of Judaism and how Torah relates to their everyday lives. The atmosphere is open, personal and relationship-focused, with students having access to a wide range of rabbis and personal guidance. The wider Aish Yeshiva is headed by **Rav Yitzchak Berkovits**, and the Foundations program is directed by **Rabbi Ethan Katz** and a broad staff of educators and mentors. It is a particularly different option from a conventional gap-year yeshiva, and is more suited to a young man looking to explore, strengthen or clarify his Jewish identity than to someone looking for a traditional Israeli yeshiva schedule.
